Goal(s)/Objective(s): Determine the efficacy of reduced application rates and dosage levels in reducing larval populations of the budworm and minimizing the amount of defoliation occurring in a given year
Recommendation: A single application of a finished spray of mexacarbate and kerosene, applied at a rate of 0.25 gallon/acre containing 0.15 lbs. AI, when budworm larvae are in the 4th and 5th instars, will effectively reduce budworm populations and minimize defoliation on balsam fir

Spruce Budworm in Maine: The End of the Outbreak; Biological Conditions in 1986, 1987, 1988, and a Look at the Future

Goal(s)/Objective(s): Present spruce budworm survey and evaluation data gathered by the Insect and Disease Management Staff.
