Refining volume estimates of down woody debris
Problem Addressed: Determine which formulae are most appropriate for use in field protocols
Goal(s)/Objective(s): Evaluate the bias, precision, and accuracy of six commonly used formulae for DWD volume estimation and to demonstrate the degree to which collapse could influence volume estimates of well-decayed DWD.
Key Findings: The conic–paraboloid formula had the lowest bias, highest precision, and greatest accuracy.
