The Uptake of Sevin by Pacific Oysters and Bottom Muds

Key Findings: While Sevin residue in bottom mud was present at a higher level than in oysters following direct application, it declined rapidly to a barely detectable level in 8 days and disappeared by the 16th day.

Balsam Fir (Abies Balsamea (L.) Mill.) Phenology in Maine

Goal(s)/Objective(s): Facilitate the critical timing of spruce budworm sampling, the initiation of spray programs, and should enable an observer to predict the occurrence of phenological events throughout the state.
Key Findings: The area of latest phenology occupies the general region of the state north of Greenville and west of Ashland.

An Additional Note on Sampling Overwintering Spruce Budworm Larvae

Problem Addressed: Spruce Budworm
Goal(s)/Objective(s): Discuss conflicting results and reevaluate the washing technique.
Key Findings: The washing technique does extract most of the larvae from the foliage and counts on mid-crown branches give an accurate estimate of budworm abundance.

The Spruce Budworm in Maine in 1965

Problem Addressed: Spruce Budworm in Maine. There was no spruce budworm control in Maine during 1965.
Key Findings: After considering the 1964 data, entomologists of the Maine and U.S. Forest Services had recommended a "wait and watch" policy with regard to the budworm infestation with no treatment recommended for 1965.
