Objectives and Research Questions:
- Synthesize the state of mountain CES valuation. Which services have been valued and which neglected. Which methods and how have they changed? How is the evidence distributed geographically? How many studies produce transferable monetary values?
- Estimate Everest region CES values across user groups. Which services do each group rate highest, and do they differ? What pressures do they perceive? What will they contribute to a conservation fund, and what predicts participation versus amount? DO qualitative accounts corroboarte the insturments?
- Integrate CES into landscape forest optimization: Can a defensible cultural index be build for ever forest type and practice? How do cultural, carbon, timber and habitat objectives trade off? What is the timber cost of cultural value, and how does it compare with timber revenue?
