A study was made to investigate the possibility that procedural logic and technique developed in the analysis of factory production line balancing problems could be applied to the reduction of analogous process flow imbalances in pulpwood harvesting systems. It was theorized that such a procedure, coupled with suitable analytical representatives of real-world harvesting operations, might be used for the efficient design of specific harvesting systems in when men and equipment are so assigned and labor so distributed that time and monetary losses due to imbalance are minimized.
