Approximately 330,000 acres of private and state woodlands in Aroostook, Penobscot, Washington, Franklin, Piscataquis, Oxford, and Somerset counties are seriously infested with the spruce budworm. Conditions in these counties are severe enough to warrant remedial action in 1977. Environmental impacts of the various management alternatives were evaluated.
