Currently, the established or "book" values for the physical and mechanical properties of northern white cedar (Thus a occidentalis L.), are based on a study of seven trees from Shawano County, Wisconsin. The purpose of this investigation was to compare certain properties of Maine grown cedar to these established book values. Also incorporated in this study was a comparison between the properties of cedar grown on wet lowland sites, and drier upland sites.
