Maine's pulp and paper industry is by far the most important manufacturing industry of the state's economy. The methods by which the pulp and paper industry is supplied with its raw materials affects not only the economic well being of the firms within this industry, but presents serious economic considerations to many other firms as well. All firms that participate in this supply function, for example; stumpage sales, pulpwood logging, and/or pulpwood transportation have an important stake in the future of the state's growing pulp and paper industry.
