Identifying determinants of vegetation distribution can be critical to preservation of rare ecosystems. This study focused on identifying the determinants of vegetation within the Waterboro Barrens preserve, 856, ha of a rare pitch pine-scrub oak ecosystem in southern Maine owned by the Maine Chapter of the Nature Conservancy.
