A study was made of white-tailed deer and deer hunting patterns in eastern Maine. The objective was to learn what factors were associated with the low deer harvests in a contiguous group of 21 wild land townships and 29 bordering townships having comparatively higher deer harvests. Data from field-examined deer and registration stations were analyzed and discussed. Questionnaire returns of past years from hunters in the study area were examined. A deer yard survey with browse plot sampling was conducted.
