The increase in demand for recreational land will generate pressure on privately owned land resources to be made available for the public in the future. Provident planning by land owning firms will not only benefit the companies involved, but will help meet this demand. This study of a portion of northwestern Maine in large private ownerships was initiated to assist the land owning companies in achieving these goals.
