A vulnerability rating scheme to spruce budworm, Choristoneura fumiferana ( clem ), damage has been devised for forest management unites based on the abundance of host species, degree of maturity of these hosts, and average long-term climate. A vulnerability index has been calculated for each fort management unit of insular Newfoundland and the one unit delineated in Labrador. Management units of the west coast, in Labrador, and on or near the Boavista Peninsula rated Very High; High and Moderate in central Newfoundland and on the Avalon Peninsula. No management unit rated low.
