The response of "wildlife" to conifer release via herbicide is a concern for the public. In response to those concerns, a review was conducted of 62 papers that examined the effect of herbicide and/or disturbance-related habitat changes on ecosystem processes. Twenty-five of those papers examined the effect of conifer release with herbicides on wildlife in northern coniferous ecosystems. Those papers provide available information as of 1991 on the effects of conifer release with herbicides on songbirds, small mammals, snowshoe hare, moose, and deer in northern coniferous forests.
