In 1986, Forest Protection Limited (FPL) applied insecticides aerially to 496000 ha of spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana (Clem.)) infested forest land in New Brunswick. In addition J.D. Irving Limited treated about 49000 ha of it's own freehold land.
