While many foresters are used to surveying with compass and chain, it is my intent to create an awareness of the newer instrumentation and techniques available at this time. The reason for this is twofold: one; newer methods and equipment simplify a considerable amount of work thus increasing efficiency and saving time; and two, at this point in time surveys are expected to conform to set, and in some cases, very rigid standards.
