Integrating a Map-based Information System and Decision Making Techniques Under Simscript 11.5

The data necessary to support forest management, already extensive, will increase significantly as more intensive management techniques are employed. A conceptual outline is presented for a map based information system employing data base and computer graphics techniques to store and provide access to forest resource data. Two computer program packages, programmed in SIMSCRIPT II.5, are provided that perform stepwise multiple regression analysis and solve linear programming problems. The integration of these decision making techniques with the map based information system is described and suggestions are made for their combined application to forest and resource management problems.
