The four reports describe research by the Washington State Department of Fisheries on protection of intertidal oyster grounds from damage due to the burrowing actions of ghost shrimp. These reports describe the searching for chemicals capable of killing or controlling ghost shrimp and studies of effect of the various chemicals found useful on the associated organisms. After selection of the pesticide Sevin as the most desirable chemical for this purpose, further studies were carried out to determine the potential uptake of Sevin by adult oysters, and the effects of Sevin on commercial crabs.
