During the summer of 1974 a study was conducted in northern Washington County Maine, to learn what effects the aerial application of mexacarbate for spruce budworm control has on forest birds (particularly the robin, Turdus migratorius), insect pollinator populations, and wild fruit yields. None of the data collected indicated that budworm spraying causes increased bird utilization of blueberry fields and damage to blueberries.
