Cause Specific hazard functions for balsam fir and red spruce were estimated during the Cox proportional hazards (PH) model. Differences by species (balsam fir or red spruce), climatic division (Northern or Southern Interior), and cause of death (budworm or blowdown) were found. This resulted in the estimation of eight cause specific hazard functions.
