- Wiggins, Julian
University of Maine Graduate School
The Roosevelt International Trail (RIT) is proposed as an unprecedented coastal trail system extending around Passamaquoddy Bay and the Saint Croix River located along Eastern Maine and Western New Brunswick, Canada. The RIT will consist of over a hundred miles of improved trail for hiking, biking and major portions are planned to be wheelchair accessible. The trail will be a world class destination offering a variety of venues and scenery. The goal of the RIT is to provide a contiguous trail looping on or as close as possible to the scenic vistas of Passamaquoddy Bay and surrounding villages. The trail will be a tribute to Franklin Delano Roosevelt who spent a considerable amount of his childhood on Campobello Island and traveling throughout Passamaquoddy Bay.
