Regeneration surveys can be more accurately and cost effectively undertaken using aerial photos in combination with a ground survey than by a field survey alone. This publication presents a procedure with an illustrative example for doing such regeneration stocking assessments. The author's research indicates that photo estimates can be adjusted through either regression or empirical correction to within 5% of what will be found through intensive field surveys.
