American Eider (Somateria mollisima dresseri) rearing ecology was studied in the Grand Manan Archipelago of New Brunswick during the 1974 and 1975 nesting seasons. Of about 3500 nesting females in the Archipelago, most were concentrated in coniferous forest and blow downs at Three islands, 8km south of Grand Manan, the principal rearing area and largest island in the Archipelago.
