- CFRU Advisory Committee
The Cooperative Forestry Research Unit, established on January 1, 1976, has concentrated research on the intensive management of the forest resources of Maine. Cooperators selected three areas for emphasis: Silviculture, Protection, and Economics/Utilization. Two special projects were also approved: Forest Genetics and Forest Fertilization. The Cooperative was established with a 5-year base period and a plan to review progress at the end of 5 years. To date, CFRU scientists have produced 36 research reports, either published or in the press, and have made numerous visits with cooperators to discuss specific problems and solutions.
Proposal:
- Continue CFRU for an additional 5 years, 1981-1985
- Increase fee from 3 cents an acre to 4 cents and acre
- Make effort to expand membership
- Provide adjustments in support to assure continued success without reductions in effort caused by inflationary pressures
