Thirty four case histories of pre-cut and post-cut conditions
On 34 different mature pulpwood stands across Eastern Canada, 4-to-10-acre study areas were established in which the quantity and distribution of trees and seedlings were measured. Only areas which had appreciable quantities of advance growth before cutting were chosen. Within one growing season following cutting and removal of the merchantable trees, the quantity and distribution of the remaining trees and seedlings were again measured together with the distribution of various classes of ground disturbance, shading and slash coverage.
