In 1944, at the instigation of the Advisory committee on forest Entomology and Pathology of the woodlands section, Canadian pulp and paper association, a program for forest research was begun on 263,000 acres of forest lands in the Green River watershed in Northern New Brunswick. This area comprises both crown land and freehold land under license to and owned by Fraser Companies Limited.
