The attitudes of resident Maine foresters toward a forester registration and licensing law were explored. These expressed attitudes were used in constructing model forester registration and licensing legislation.

Members of the Maine Chapter of the Society of American Foresters were elected as being representative of all Maine foresters. Each Maine chapter member was sent a questionnaire and abstract. The questionnaire was designed to register the attitudes of Chapter members toward forester registration and licensing. The intent of the abstract was to inform Chapter members on the content of existing forester registration and licensing laws.
