The objectives of this study were (i) to describe patterns of tree mortality that developed during a spruce budworm outbreak (ii) to characterize patterns of tree seedling regenerating in and adjacent to canopy openings that were created by the dead trees, and (iii) to discuss implications of the observed regeneration patters on possible species composition of the new stand developing after the spruce budworm outbreak.
