In 1985, Forest Protection Limited applied insecticides aerially to 701 000 ha of spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana (Clem.)) infested forest land in New Brunswick. About 90 000 ha were scheduled for treatment with B.t. but 9000 ha were subsequently not sprayed because of weather delays, advanced larval development, and the presence of defoliation levels beyond objective limits.
