In conclusion, few effects of high DDE and PCB contaminant concentrations were associated with decreased population productivity, as was spring weather. Maine eagles were useful as indicators of ecosystem chemical contamination, indicating potential point sources, but atmosphere deposition and biomagnification may contribute to the overall high organochlorine contaminant concentrations within Maine eagles.
