Landscape Level Planning Applied to The University of Maine Foundation’s Green Endowments Forestlands

Landscape level computer growth modeling can be a useful tool for land managers of both large and small tracts of forest land. The Landscape Management System (LMS) has been used for growth modeling on University Forest lands for many years now and complete portfolios with management plans and harvest schedules were created by students for two of the four forest systems managed by the University Forests. The University of Maine Foundation's Green Endowment Forestlands had no such portfolio in place before this project. The University Forest management crew has asked for an LMS portfolio for the Green Endowment lands together with detailed instructions so they can update or modify their current LMS portfolios and harvest schedules.
