Multi-criteria Decision Analysis (MCDA) and this survey
• MCDA is a way to help make complex decisions – when there is no obvious single solution and there are many stakeholders with an interest in the outcome
• Develop alternative future scenarios, develop lists of criteria and indicators to help select among alternatives, express values and preferences
• Done in a guided, transparent, fully participatory discussion process, often using computer graphics
• Focus groups and survey forms help provide the basic information, in both quantitative (numbers) and qualitative (rating scales, professional opinion) formats
• Survey form responses express participants values and preferences, and these inform the criteria and the alternative scenarios
