By far the largest amount of aerial spraying in both Canada and the United states has been against the spruce budworm (Choristioneura fumiferana (Clem)). Although initial development of the method was based largely on cooperative trials, subsequent full-scale operations in two countries have been carried out largely on opposite sides of the continent.
