Although the spruce budworm outbreak in the Adirondacks declined in 1947, the infestation still persists. Heavy infestations are developing in the St. Maurice Valley north of the city of Quebec and the insect was more numerous in New Brunswick. The situation in Maine is approaching a dangerous stage and a large-scale attack may be imminent.
