Aerial treatment of naturally regenerating clear-cuts with the herbicide glyphosate initially reduces the availability of deciduous browse but may subsequently improve bedding cover for moose. However, the potential effects of these vegetative changes on the use of clear cuts by moose have received little study. We studied the effects of glyphosate treatment of clear-cuts in Maine (1) use of clear-cuts by moose and (2) conifer cover during 2 periods, 1-2 and 7-11 years posttreatment.
