This manual is a major revision of "The Spruce Budworm Manual for Technology Transfer Specialists in the Lake Stat es--Preliminary Version" which w as published as Michigan Cooperative  Forest   Pest Management Program Technical Report 81-4. The preliminary version was  mailed  to  approximately 100 forest management specialists and researchers throughout North America. Approximately 30 specialists, including 15 from the Lake States, reviewed  all  or  portions of the manual. Their comments were extremely helpful, especially in updating in­formation, and making the information as technically  correct  as possible.
