During the past ten years a widespread and destructive outbreak of the spruce budworm. Archips fumiferana, has developed in Ontario and spread into Quebec and New York. There is considerable concern about the possibilities of it extending into the Maritime Provinces. The following is a summary of our knowledge of the present situation, the danger of future damage, and the possibilities of reducing this danger.
