Seasonal home range and habitat use characteristics of adult moose (Alces alces) in northern Maine were studied from January 1983 through September 1984 using radio telemetry. Thirty-seven moose (14 M:23 F) were located 786 times using aerial telemetry, 246 times by triangulation, and 26 times by direct observation. Based on usage patterns, moose in this part of Maine are dependent upon logged areas for meeting food and shelter requirements, and incorporating the needs of moose in forest management plans is warranted.
