Study conducted at Howland Research Forest in central Maine by MS student Chris Hettwer looking at CH4 flux from living tree stems and CO2 and CH4 fluxes from standing dead trees. Objectives: 1. Identify the environmental predictors most strongly influencing CH4 flux from living tree stems; 2. Characterize differences in CH4 flux from three heights at the base of tree stems; and 3. Assess how tree stem CH4 flux varies spatially within the site’s landscape
