The fundamental goal of forest regeneration is to ultimately replenish a site with trees following natural or man-caused disturbance. Because a wide array of plant species may inhabit a site following disturbance, a knowledge of the principles governing plant distribution and growth is necessary for vegetation management to be accomplished.
