Forest Insect conditions 1n the Northeast are characterized by a diversity of insect pests, native and introduced, with several of major importance having wide distribution over the entire region and others of only sporadic occurrence. Although those insects which threaten or kill trees of commercial value in natural stands are generally given top priority in surrey activities, the increasingly large area of reforested Land has necessitated more attention to insects attacking forest plantations.
