Competition is generally divided into intraspecific and interspecific forms. Intraspecific competition is one of the negative interactions between members of the same species. It is usually very intense, because closely related individuals must occupy the same niche. This bibliography is organized on the basis of the principal variables used in the competition indices. The purpose of this bibliography is to present as complete a set of competition indices as can be found in the literature, with their accompanying abstracts, and, where applicable, explanatory diagrams.
