The objectives of this study were to 1 ) establish winter severity zones for the state of Maine based upon some minimum dally temperature information and snow accumulation--factors which researchers have found to be critical for deer survival; and 2) to offer some constructive observations about the timber harvest guidelines proposed by the Department of Inland Fisheries and Game and adopted by the Land use Regulation commission.
