Within the framework of the Forestry Program of the Eastern Quebec Development Plan, Forestry Canada, Quebec Region sponsors a protection program against the spruce budworm (Choristoneura fumiferana Clem.) for private woodlots. Initiated in 1985, this program required close cooperation between representatives from various organizations and agencies. This cooperative effort resulted in the development of several original projects which successfully took into account the private character of the woodlots involved, the division of the territory, and the involvement of the woodlot producers' associations.
