The primary objectives of the study were:
1. To study the relative fertility and fecundity of cottontail rabbit populations with respect to good and poor soil types in Ohio.
2. To determine the length of the breeding season and number of litters produced per year in various regions.
3. To determine the breeding segment of the populations and the age at which sexual maturity is attained.
4. To gain some knowledge of the factors affecting the various reproductive phenomena of the populations.
