The eastern spruce budworm, Chorsitoneura fumiferana Clem., is the most destructive defoliators of the boreal forests of North America. During the past 50 years, considerable efforts by diverse agencies have been devoted to minimizing the impacts of spruce budworm outbreaks. The eastern Spruce Budworm research Work Conference evolved from the need to exchange ideas, consolidate information, and foster collaboration among the various agencies involved in budworm-related research.
