Community Benefits, Place Dependency, and Trust: The U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Lake Shelbyville Project
Problem Addressed: Community feelings regarding Lake Shelbyville
Goal(s)/Objective(s): Present data on benefits attained by individuals living in communities adjacent to or nearby Lake Shelbyville.
Key Findings: Even though many respondents are not sure they know much about the Corps and its values, there seems to be a general feeling that the Corps at Lake Shelbyville can be trusted to manage the resource in a responsible manner; and, a general sense that the Corps can be instrumental in increasing and encouraging opportunities for economic development in the area while protecting the resource and maintaining the ‘naturalness’ of it.
